Are women more loyal to perfume brands? When you look at the shopping habits of men and women, you often find that women are more loyal to a specific brand.

 

Having spent my time working in department stores in London and Washington D.C. I agree women stick to a brand. If they like a brand, they generally buy new products the brand has to offer.

 

Does that apply to perfume as well? Getting a woman to switch to a new perfume or scent is more challenging than asking her to buy a body lotion from a brand she follows.

 

Shopping is a different experience for women. Not only do they take into consideration the scent of a fragrance. They also look at the design of the bottle and the packaging.

 

On occasion, I believe women are a little bit too transfixed on bottle design and the pretty box the perfume comes in.

 

Does that mean women get stuck in a rut when buying perfume? Yes, I think so.

 

Trying New Fragrances

 

From time to time, it is a good idea to change and update your fragrance collection. But, I also know myself how important it is to have fragrance staples.

 

Are there some women’s fragrances that we should all have on our dressing table? On my dressing table, you will always find certain perfumes. One of my favorites is Hermes Eau D'Orange Verte.

 

My other favourite brands include Dior and Carolina Herrera. In the summertime, I don’t think you can beat Marc Jacobs. Jean Paul Gaultier does not work for me, but I think it smells nice on many of my friends.

 

Mugler makes great women’s fragrances for going out. They are slightly avant-garde. That is what I like about them.

 

One perfumer that many ladies underestimate is Paco Rabanne. I love the extensive range and the variety. If you are looking for a new fragrance, I think Paco Rabanne is worth exploring.

 

Jimmy Choo is great as well, and having spent time in Japan, I appreciate what Issey Miyake has to offer. I am especially in love with Issey Miyake L'Eau D'issey. Issey Miyake body lotions are some of the best in the beauty industry.

Are these women’s fragrances still worth it in 2023? I think there are fragrances for women that are worth buying.

 

I know that many ladies are trying to save money by switching to dupes and buying generic brands. Despite what many bloggers claim, Aldi and Lidl can’t produce the same standard of fragrances as perfume brands.

What you end up buying are fragrances and personal care products that do your skin more harm than good. I have tried many brand dupes. None of them have been as good as the “genuine article” if you know what I mean.

 

I recently tried a skincare range that claimed to be as good as Clinique. All I can say is that it left a lot to be desired.

 

Best Buy Women’s Fragrances in 2023

 

Let’s take a look at fragrances that are still worth it in 2023.

 

Paco Rabanne

 

During my time in the perfume and beauty industry, I have come to realise that Paco Rabanne is one of the more underestimated brands.

 

What can you expect from Paco Rabanne? When you buy a women’s fragrance from Paco Rabanne, you get both innovation and tradition. The two factors combined make sweet music together.

 

Paco Rabanne was a brand of perfume that I used to underestimate. That was until my friend gave me Lady Million EDP for my birthday one year. Holding my hands up, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Soon after, I explored what Paco Rabanne has to offer.

 

Lady Million EDP is one of my favourite perfumes. I love that it is fresh and has added layers of depth. There is another reason I appreciate Lady Million. Paco Rabanne kindly produces this fragrance in a range of formats. You can buy more generous sizes or formats. Lady Million 30ml is perfect for slipping into my gym kit. The updated version of Lady Million Empire is also worth buying.

 

If you are looking for a more exotic when going out in the evening, you should try Paco Rabanne Black XS. This is a very layered fragrance full of surprises. The bottle looks great but let’s not get too hung up about the bottle.

 

Black XS smells great and offers a great deal of longevity. It is not one of those fragrances that you need to apply time and time again.

 

Another top choice from Paco Rabanne is Fame Eau de Parfum. This perfume is almost creamy and lasts forever. You don’t need to apply much to get the desired effect. I love the slightly spicy creamy scent that lingers. Spray it on your hair and it lasts all night.

 

Olympea Blossom is another top choice if you like feminine perfumes. I wore this on a train journey recently and a lady complimented me on the fragrance. It is feminine but contemporary at the same time. As I said, Paco Rabanne is innovative and traditional. Paco Rabanne Olympea Blossom Eau de Parfum proves the point.

 

Another thing I like about Paco Rabanne is that the brand always has gift sets available. I love being gift sets as you get everything you need in one box. The box sets are also excellent value for money.

 

 

I have also discovered Paco Rabanne men’s stick deodorants. If you exercise a lot like I do, you may need an extra fragrance boost. Paco Rabanne’s deodorants, I know they are meant for men, do a great job whether you are spinning or doing a yoga workout. I highly recommend them. 1 Million deo stick compliments Lady Million EDP perfectly.

What About Mugler?

 

Mugler as a brand has come a long way. I still think it resonates better with younger ladies but I like it.

 

If you have not tried it yet, you should do so. The Mugler Alien and Angel collection has grown over the years. Personally, I think that Alien and Angel are top choices when it comes to Mugler.

 

Goddess and Flora Futura are two Mugler fragrances worth mentioning. They are slightly different when compared to the original Alien. Flora Futura has a wonderful floral fragrance but is not overpowering. Some flower fragrances are too sweet but Flora Futura is well-balanced.

 

If you are looking for a date night perfume from Mugler, I think that Alien Goddess is a good choice. Thierry Mugler Aura has delightful crisp open notes with the addition of sandalwood and amber for depth and endurance. It works both as a daytime and nighttime fragrance for women.

 

Mugler Angel body lotion is nice. It is rich but still goes on smoothly. Great to use if you are going out for the evening or when on your summer holiday.

 

Jean Paul Gaultier

 

For some reason or another, Jean Paul Gaultier perfumes don’t work on my skin. That does not mean I don’t like the way they smell. I think they smell great. Many of my girlfriends wear them.

 

Scandal is one of my favourite perfumes from Jean Paul. It is one of the few women’s fragrances that contains patchouli. This is a great seductive smell that works for both men and women. It is the sign of a good date night perfume.

 

La Belle is another one of my favourites from Gaultier. It is slightly cheeky and feminine.

 

Gaultier loves doing special editions of his perfumes. As a matter of fact, I think the special editions are worth buying for the fun bottles alone.

 

Remember to look out for Jean Paul Gaultier gift box sets. Many of them contain a “mini-me” bottle which is great for when travelling. I wish more perfume brands would do more gift box sets. Smaller sizes and body lotions are always great for putting in your gym kit or handbag.

 

Jimmy Choo

 

Yes, of course, I dream of buying a pair of Jimmy Choo’s shoes or a bag. Until I can, his fragrance collection is a must.

 

And what a women’s fragrance collection it is! This is a brand that continues to bring out premier fragrances.

A few years ago, you could not really build up a fragrance collection exclusively using Jimmy Choo, but now you can.

 

If you are looking for a new daytime perfume, I think Illicit Flower is an excellent choice. For daytime wear, you also have the original Jimmy Choo Eau. If you are buying a fragrance as a gift for someone, I think Jimmy Choo Eau is an excellent introduction to the brand.

 

Once you have started to build up your Jimmy Choo perfume collection, I think a good addition is Jimmy Choo Fever. It is one of the most seductive date night perfumes that I have ever tried.

 

Compared to other scents, Fever is slightly lighter and more refined. It is also self-indulgent - you will love it as much as he does. As a date night perfume, I think Fever by Jimmy Choo is one of the best.

 

If Jimmy Choo Blossom was a wine, you would say it was a young wine. When you need an everyday perfume perhaps for the school run, Blossom by Jimmy Choo hits the mark. It is fresh but has a broad range of nuances. I also happen to love the bottle.

 

Carolina Herrera

 

The last time I visited a Carolina Herrera store, I noticed far fewer perfumes on sale. Hey, what is going on? I hope this premier perfume brand is not coming out of the business.

 

The Carolina Herrera is instantly recognisable thanks to its fun bottle designs. You choose between skateboards and shoes. The brand also offers shower gels for ladies which I think is important.

 

What Carolina Herrera fragrances stand out? For me, it has to be the original Good Girl EDP. It is a fragrance which is both fresh and daring at the same time. It is slightly sweet with many alluring qualities. A bit like the modern woman.

 

Rose by Carolina Herrera is a beautiful perfume. In this perfume, the brand has managed to capture the essence of not rose but pink champagne. It is a vibrant fragrance which really does make you think of good times. If you are going to a party, Rose by Carolina Herrera is a great choice.

 

Another Carolina Herrera product worth buying is Carolina Herrera Good Girl Legs Elixir. It is a must-have for your summer holiday, Simply spray it on to show off your tan. As an added benefit, it moisturises your skin. Good Girl Legs Elixir gets a 5-star rating from me.

 

Miss Dior

 

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum (2021) is a wonderful perfume. The first thing you will notice is that the fragrance is slightly more intense. A touch of pepper has been added to spice it up. Vanilla and powdery notes help to balance the fragrance.

 

You can still enjoy a traditional Dior floral bouquet in the fragrance, but this version of Miss Dior seems a bit more adult. Definitely worth adding to your collection.

 

 

Marc Jacob Perfumes

 

Once again a perfumer offering beautiful bottles that will last long after the last drop of perfume.

 

When I pack my bags to go on holiday this summer, Marc Jacob Daisy Eau So Fresh EDT is on top of my packing list. This is a fragrance that works for daytime as well as early evening wear. You know what I mean - when you pop out to enjoy an oversized gin and tonic before dinner.

 

The fragrance is slightly naughty and helps to boost your nighttime mood. A great fragrance for warm Mediterranean nights.
