The German brand Joop (pronounced yope) is the brainchild of designer, Wolfgang Joop. Formed in 1978, Joop chose to add the exclamation mark to the company name to differentiate it from his personal work.
Joop would show his first womenswear range in 1982 and the male equivalent in 1985. Both ready-to-wear collections received enough praise for Joop to launch a line of fragrances in 1987.
Joop Femme was the first, with Joop Homme ensuing shortly after in 1989. Joop Femme is categorised as being oriental and woody in aroma, and Joop Homme has mandarin and orange blossom at its core.
The production of Joop perfumes and colognes has skyrocketed since the Swiss-based Holy Fashion Group took over as owners in 2008. Joop now carries more than 50 perfumes, including the first ever pink fragrance for men. If that sounds like you, or you’re after a simple, trusted and modern fragrance, consider Joop.
