Karl Lagerfeld Perfumes

Karl Lagerfeld is so protective and secretive about his personal life, we can’t even tell you with certainty when he was born. It is believed it was late 1930s in Germany. What is known is that after an apprenticeship at Balmain and a large amount of freelance work for Chloe, Fendi and Chanel, he launched his own line in 1984.

By that stage, Lagerfeld was an incredibly accomplished creative director, photographer and stylist, and it came as no surprise when his early collaborations with H&M sold out in days.

Lagerfeld leant his name to perfume for the first time in 1978 with a cologne for men called Lagerfeld Classic. It became a classic too, proving popular amongst men with a nose for an oriental, woody cologne.

In the 1990s Karl Lagerfeld released several excellent Eau de Parfums including Sun Moon Stars which became the iconic fragrance for women in the 1990s, Karl Lagerfeld Paradise Bay, Karleidoscope and Liquid Karl perfume.

The men’s offerings persisted with Jako, Ocean View and KL Homme; all released in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger.
