L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme incorporates everything which is good about this exciting fragrance brand from Japan. It is fresh and perfect for spring.

 

What does L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake smell like?

 

This fragrance reminds me of an ocean breeze - it is so refreshing. As such, it stands out in the warmer spring weather.

 

Top notes are tangerine and lemon. Water lily adds a softness quickly followed by warm, spicy notes for depth and texture.

What makes Acqua di Gio Profondo a great men’s spring fragrance?

 

Profondo has one thing in common with L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme.

 

It also offers a fresh breeze which seems to have blown in from the sea. Green mandarin and bergamot are also among its top notes.

 

The middle range is made up of cypress, rosemary and just a smidge of lavender. The depth or profoundness of the fragrance comes from minerals, musk, amber and patchouli.

Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani

 

Acqua di Giò Parfum is Profondo’s younger brother if you like. Once again, this fine fragrance was developed by Spanish perfumer Alberto Morillas.

 

This a slightly more intense fragrance with less of the sea breeze I spoke of earlier.

 

Marine nuances open the scent up but you are quickly greeted by bergamot. Clary sage, geranium and rosemary represent the middle notes.

 

Finally, you encounter patchouli and olibanum which make the fragrance intensely masculine. At the same time, it manages to retain its freshness.

 

Acqua di Gio is a real credit to Alberto Morillas. He loves natural notes. This shines through in this excellent men’s EDT. If you can, try to buy the deodorant in the same fragrance. It completes the fragrance experience and continues to deliver.

 

Bvlgari Man Wood Essence

 

Launched in July 2018, Man Wood Essence from Bvglari had a challenging take-off.

This was the year before the pandemic and things quickly got turbulent.

Even though this fragrance has many woody notes, it is a great scent for the spring.

 

What does Bvlgari Man Wood Essence smell like?

 

The woody notes come from cypress, cedar, vetiver and a touch of benzoin. Coriander, lemon zest and citrus are responsible for the fresh notes making it the perfect fragrance for spring.

 

This scent also works as an autumn fragrance for men.

 

An excellent fragrance which works well during the day and night. Man Wood Essence's many layers make it a very enduring fragrance with excellent longevity once unleashed out of the bottle.

 

Prada Luna Rossa Ocean

 

Prada Luna Rossa Ocean is also on my most popular men’s fragrance list.

 

This is a beautiful scent which is great for spring. Citrus fruits make an appearance alongside woody incense notes. The perfume itself is creamy and gives the skin a warm glow.

 

A wonderfully blended fragrance which is great for the office and intimate evening dates. With all of those spicy and intense notes, Luna Rossa Ocean stands out in the warmer spring air.

 

D&G Light Blue Pour Homme

 

Dolce and Gabbana offer classic men’s fragrances and some new exciting fragrance experiences.

 

If you like this brand, I think one of the colognes you should check out is Light Blue Pour Homme.

 

What does D&G Light Blue Pour Homme smell like?

 

The best way to describe this fragrance is as sparkingly fresh. You know that sensation you get when you open a nice bottle of sparkling wine? The bubbles seem to “go up” your nose.

 

Italian citrus blended with bergamot bubbles out of the bottle accompanied with aromas of grapefruit peel and mandarin oranges. Juniper adds interest and continues to keep this masculine springtime scent fresh.

 

A great choice for daytime wear. You won’t be disappointed.

 

Calvin Klein Eternity

 

When Clavin Klein launched Eternity in 1988 it took the industry by storm. It was a new and extravagant fragrance.

 

Since then, it has taken a bit of a back seat. However, I think it is time we put Eternity back in the driving seat.

 

What does Eternity by Calvin Klein smell like?

 

Although slightly fruity and floral, it breaks through the fresh spring air thanks to jasmine, patchouli and amber.

 

As an EDT, I think it has a lot to offer. It is not as yet past its sell-by date. Let’s put it that way. Great for Sunday morning wear or when you are staying in for the evening after work.

 

Also, works well during the daytime. Perhaps not a date fragrance for men, but Eternity is still a fragrance with a difference.

 

Gentleman By Givenchy

 

Givenchy remains a fantastic choice as a fragrance brand for men.

 

Gentleman by Givenchy is a classic natural fragrance. Although the top notes are bergamot and chestnut, iris tones soon put in an appearance.

 

The scent of irises adds freshness and interest. The final notes are slightly woody. But, this is a fragrance that is a great choice for daytime wear during the spring.

As the spring air is full of fragrance, it is always a good idea to boost your fragrance.

The best way is to buy what I like to call the little extras. Deodorants and shower gels ensure that you stay fresher for longer.

 

When you use shower gels and deodorants the fragrance lasts for longer.

 

Why does the fragrance last longer? Top-quality brands use natural fragrance oils.

 

Compared to synthetic oils, natural oils are slowly absorbed by the skin. As they continue to do so, they carry on releasing their notes. This is why you notice the scent of your fragrance for longer when you add shower gels and deodorants to your personal care routine.

 

Does the same thing happen when you use synthetic oils? No, it doesn’t.

 

Synthetic oils stay on your skin. They are much more likely to cause skin irritations than to add any value to your fragrance experience.

 

Duped fragrances also contain a lot of alcohol. As you may remember from school chemistry class, alcohol evaporates quickly once it reacts with oxygen. This is another reason why low-cost duped fragrances have no longevity.

 

The cologne appears to smell fantastic for a few minutes, but that scent sensation is soon gone.
